We all like a good snack. It satisfies our hunger, keeps us from overeating at dinner, and is overall enjoyable. If done correctly, it can also be really good for you! Eating something small often can keep your metabolism moving. The trouble comes when we reach for the chips instead of the veggies. If you want to enjoy snacking without adding calories, check out these simple snacks that can be easily eaten while on the go.

Carrots

Carrots are easy because they can be grabbed from the fridge without any preparation. Fill a baggie with some sweet baby carrots, leave them in the refrigerator, and grab them when you need a snack, but don’t have the time to make anything. They’re easy, delicious, and super low calorie. You really can’t go wrong.

Almonds

This is another easy treat that can be quick and simple. You can buy almonds in a can or bag, or you can make a snack bag and leave it in the cupboard. Almonds will provide you with a great blast of protein, and they are also good for digestion. Almonds are also great for satisfying a hunger craving. A handful of almonds can keep you healthy and full, and luckily, can be done quickly for those with a busy lifestyle.

Peanut Butter

This one is not as easy as the rest, but it really is good for you. When I’m in a hurry, starving, and need a quick pick me up, I reach for a teaspoon of peanut butter. It gives a blast of protein and a quick energy boost. If you have a little more time, pair it with apple slices or a banana for an extra healthy snack option.

String Cheese

Cheese can be a healthy snack. If you overdo it, it turns unhealthy really quickly, so keep this one in moderation. String cheese is a great option for keeping it quick and healthy. All you have to do is grab a package from the refrigerator and take it with you. If you don’t like string cheese (like me), cut some cheese into cubes and keep it in a bag in the refrigerator. It’s just as quick and just as healthy.

Snacking doesn’t have to ruin your diet. With some planning and preparation, snacking can be good for you, and it can be enjoyable too. Try these healthy snacks to stay on track and keep your calories under control while on the go.
