In case you haven’t noticed, we are a society obsessed with hair! Just turn on the television and you will probably see a whole host of commercials advertising a new product for luscious locks. Wash your hair with this. Apply this new gel. Avoid this combination of products.

So, how do we really get those envious curls that we dream about? It might be all in your diet. For beautiful and healthy hair, take a look at these foods that may help your hair grow stronger and leave you with gorgeous flowing tresses.

Eggs

Eggs are full of a vitamin in the B group called Biotin. This essential vitamin is one of the best supplements for strong hair and nail growth. In fact, those that have weight loss procedures like gastric bypass are recommended to take biotin in order to prevent hair loss in their newly restricted diets. While eggs are a great source of this healthy vitamin, if you don’t like eggs, you can also take a supplement bought at any vitamin store or local grocery store.

Fish

I know that fish are on pretty much every healthy list of foods out there. That should probably tell us something! For hair, it is the high content of Omega 3 Fatty Acid that gives the growth and strength a boost. Omega 3 helps to make each strand stronger and also more flexible, so there is less breakage in the long run. If you don’t like fish, this is a vitamin that can also be taken in the form of a supplement bought at any local store.

Red meats are full of 2 really great supplements that can help hair grow: iron and protein. Iron can help to strengthen the hair and hair follicles. Protein can provide both strength and length, as our hair is mostly made up of protein. Getting enough protein ensures that there is enough in the body to be used on the hair as well. If you don’t like red meat, you can also try chicken, nuts, and fish. These aren’t typically found in a supplement. While iron can be found in a supplement, it is important to have the right amount of iron in the body, so check with your doctor before taking any sort of iron supplement.
